Walpole Car Wash Expands
Sottile Acquires Norton Car Wash
To
Install Same Fully Automatic Touchless Washing Systems
As
At Walpole Car Wash
The First
120 Days And Counting Spring Steps Coming Soon
In September 2003, Anthony W. Sottile, as Cleanrite
Enterprises, Inc., acquired Norton Car Wash. Sottile is also the owner of Walpole
Car Wash, Inc., which recently celebrated its 18th year in business under his ownership. Today, Walpole Car Wash remains the areas only touchless washing system.
David Sottile of Franklin, MA manages both car washes. Upon acquiring
the business, the Sottiles embarked on a 120 days, Phase 1 Improvement Program.
The First 120 Days
What can be said, quips Anthony Sottile. This place was the ultimate fixer-upper! Oh,
I'm certain that the existing patrons, people who passed NCW, and the community at large had their own punch-list of Things
To Do (or better yet, Should Have Been Done) for this place. But, I
can assure all that their lists were but a fraction of the real needs. Still, we
settled on the business due to the location and potential. It's similar to our Walpole Car
Wash in that it resides between two communities, Norton and Attleboro on Rte. 123, just as WCW resides between Walpole and
Wrentham on 1A. Additionally, rehabbing Norton Car Wash has become a personal
challenge.
To accomplish this makeover, the physical location
has been completely upgraded. Even before the closing on the business, the Sottiles
ordered a new Norton Car Wash sign, in the style of WCW's sign, to be erected as the first step in signifying many changes
to be made. In addition to the sign replacement, trees have been trimmed, massive
overgrowth has been cutback, fences have been mended, the blacktop and concrete surfaces have been repaired, the building
has been painted, and all new lights have been installed both for the lot and the bays.
Simply stated, our goal, despite being a
business, has been to become a physical asset equal to the Town environs, which bound NCWs property on three sides. After the first 120 days, we feel that we have accomplished our Phase 1 goals
and are well on the way to a total integration of the look.
Simultaneously, the wash/cleaning equipment, the
very essence of the business, has been professionally upgraded and maintained by a third party, Non-Stop Car Wash Systems,
Inc., the company which the Sottiles uses to maintain WCW's operation. Pumps
and pressures have been reestablished; hoses, wands, and nozzles have been replaced; the auto-pay terminal for the automatic
Robo has been upgraded to now accept bills, all vacuum motors have been replaced to increase suction and hoses have been lengthened
to eliminate repositioning of vehicles.
Recently, a new coin-operated, high velocity and
volume, hand-held drier, which now offers patrons the option of blow-drying their vehicles after washing, has been added to
the side of the building.
Finally, supporting equipment and vending machines
have been added and upgraded. A new coin changer, which can now accept $1, $5,
$10 bills, has been installed to better serve users. Chortles David, This is
a business of quarters; when people run out of quarters, we run out of customers!
Spring Steps LaserWashes
Be Installed
With winter upon them, the Sottiles have hunkered-down
until Spring before initiating Phase II of the improvements. Top on their list
will be to install two fully automatic LaserWash systems to provide patrons with better washing of the vehicle,
itself, plus undercarriage cleaning, waxing, and blow drying. According to the
Sottiles, we have been operating this touchless system (2 bays) in Walpole for the past 8 years and are very pleased
with both it and our patrons' desires for it. However, to properly install the
equipment will require changes to the bays, which are best left to the Spring and Summer.
Currently, the Norton Car Wash has one automatic
Robo wash, three self-serve car wash bays, of which one is covered, four vacuums, two change and several car-care vending
machines. The car wash is opened 24 hour a day, every day. The Norton Car Wash is located on Route 123 adjacent to the Norton Middle School.
